  • 56k Modem: Should approach or exceed - 5.0 kilobytes per second (~4.0 kilobits per second)
Step 3 - If your numbers are bad, it is time to review your options:
  • Make sure your modem (56k,Cable or DSL) is up to current capabilities.
  • Verify your NIC drivers and Router Firmware is current.
  • Do NOT use Network Hubs, use Switches.
  • Check and verify your connection to your provider is good.
  • Consider changing (optimizing) the settings of your Operating System.
