As the cold weather approaches, more and more people turn their attentions toward their annual skiing holidays. Skiing has become more and more popular over the last 30 years. Once considered a sport of the wealthy elite, cheap travel and package holidays have opend up opportunities to more and more people, which can only be a good thing. Some of the locals in the ski resorts may not agree however, and often complain about the pollution created through extra vehicles being attracted to the area, and the effect the construction has on the scenery.

Europe has many popular destinations for winter sports with holidays in France, Italy, Switzerland and Austria being popular choices. Those more adventurous souls may head a little further to either the USA or Canada.
